The Effects of Intervention by Using Voice Output Communication Aid(VOCA) on the Social Interaction of the Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the intervention by using VOCA in inclusive setting. Participants in this study were 3 young children with autism spectrum disorders and their peers. A multiple probe baseline across participants design was used to assess the effects of the intervention. The results of this study showed that intervention by using VOCA increased the utterance frequency of social interaction of the children with autism spectrum disorder. Moreover, the effect on social interaction increased during intervention was generalized at another setting and maintained at 3 weeks later.
